The California Highway Patrol says a woman who was driving a white pickup made a left turn directly into the path of a motorcycle, causing an accident that left the motorcyclist with major injuries Thursday afternoon.
The accident occurredon June 10th, just after 3 p.m. on Highway 119 at Ash Street in Taft, CA.
CHP Officer Jeremy Lace said the pickup was heading Northbound on Highway 119 making a left turn to go west of Ash Street when the crash occurred.
Lace said the woman told officers she didn’t see the oncoming traffic.
He attributed the accident to “basic in attention.”
The motorcycle rider, a Taft man whose name was not released, suffered major injuries to his legs.
He was taken to Taft Airport then airlifted to Kern Medical.
The woman suffered very minor injuries and said she would seek medical treatment on her own, Officer Lace said. Alcohol or drugs did not appear to be a factor.
