Witnesses reported Bethune riding in and out of traffic, back and forth over the double yellow line to avoid slower-moving vehicles. A Riverside woman was driving her Ford Flex West on the Cajalco Road when Bethune crossed over the double yellow line veering directly into her resulting in the head-on accident. The woman was treated for minor injuries and will be okay. Bethune past away at the scene.

The motorcycle accident caused a traffic jam as the road was shut down both ways for an hour for emergency personnel and an investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
